Edo2024:The Dialectics of Hypocrisy
By Osazua IVBAZE
For some time now, I have been watching some politicians who climb to mountain tops, roaringly and fiercely demanding fairness and justice in the distribution of political opportunities and openings, while coming back to their subnational level to make dramatic u-turn for self--serving purposes.
For them, power shift/ zoning is needed at the national level to prevent the Northern Nigeria from using the population weapon to dominate political power.
However, at State level, these same people bare their hypocritical fangs by excessively seeking to concentrate on their own professed advantage in pursuit of the actualization of what they abhor in national politics.
They try to wrap up these contradictions and hypocrisy inherent in this unarguably selfish attitude in sophistry.
APC, in response to the need to promote equity, allowed power to shift to the South after Buhari's 8 years.
PDP ignored this approach because the party was confident that the North had the population to produce the president without realizing that our diversity demands justice for all.
That's what is playing out in Edo now. We hear what they are saying-- that capacity and competence should count. I agree.
But these attributes can be found in men and women in all the three Senatorial Districts in the State.
My take is that we cannot be promoting what we consider abhorrent and unacceptable at the national level in our own State without being seen as hypocrites.
