From his days in the Social Democratic Party (SDP), where he first contested and won election to the Edo state House of Assembly in 1991, to his tenure in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), where he also contested and won election into the state House of Assembly in 1999, and to the All Nigerian People’s Party (ANPP), when he became the candidate of his party for the House of Representatives elections in 2003 and Senatorial candidate in 2007, and later elected Chairman of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in 2010 and a member of the presidential inauguration committee; inauguration parade and swearing-in sub-committee in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2019, he has consistently championed the cause of the people and demonstrated a keen understanding of their needs.

That’s not all. *“Uncle T”* also has another thing going for him in his divine mandate to govern Edo people - his experience as a legislator, his stint in the executive arm of government, and his judiciary experience - the man who has seen it all in the three arms of government.
Rt. Hon. Thomas Okosun, a legal practitioner in Heritage Chambers, was an honourable member of the Edo State House of Assembly from 1992 to 1993 and later 1999 to 2003 and at some point, he became the Speaker. He was Pro-Chancellor and Chairman Governing Council of Tayo Akpata University of Education, Ekiadolor; a member of the National Governing Council of African Union Development Agency (AUDA) NEPAD African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) from 2019 to 2023 when they conducted the second review of Nigeria and developed National Plan of Action and again; a member representing South-South in Competition and Consumer Protection Tribunal, Abuja from 2020 till date.
Rt. Hon. Thomas Okosun has shown political experience, ability, capacity, and capability in all the roles and responsibilities he found himself. He is not a newcomer to the politics of Edo state.
He’s not under the pressure of anyone to run for the highest seat in Edo state, let alone yielding to pressure from any quarter - *HIS IS A DIVINE MANDATE,* different from others yielding under undue pressure.
